Telehealth: When a Virtual Visit Is the Right Choice

Nov 6, 2026

Telehealth has made seeing your provider easier than ever, letting you get trusted care from home or work. It is a convenient option for many everyday needs, and knowing when it fits can save you time without compromising your care.

When telehealth works well

Virtual visits are a great fit for many concerns: reviewing lab results, managing ongoing conditions like blood pressure or diabetes, medication check-ins, minor illnesses, mental health support, and general questions about your health. You get real, personalized guidance without the trip to the office.

When in-person is better

Some situations need a hands-on exam, testing, or a procedure, such as new or severe symptoms, injuries, or anything your provider needs to examine directly. When that is the case, we will let you know and help you schedule a visit.

Making the most of a virtual visit

Find a quiet, private spot with a good connection, have your medication list and any home readings like blood pressure ready, and write down your questions in advance. A little preparation makes the visit smoother and more useful.

When to seek care

Telehealth is not for emergencies. Seek emergency care or call 911 right away for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, fainting, or signs of a stroke such as face drooping, arm weakness, or difficulty speaking.
